Event Details:

Join us for the official unveiling of the commemorative orange crosswalk at The Esplanade Park in Pickering.

The orange crosswalk was developed through a collaborative effort between the City of Pickering and the Indigenous Relationship Building Circle (IRBC) as a network of Indigenous residents, Indigenous-led organizations and allies. It now stands at the intersection of Valley Farm Road and The Esplanade North as a permanent community fixture to honour lost Indigenous children, survivors, families and communities affected by the residential school system across the country and its ongoing impacts. The orange crosswalk further reaffirms a community-wide commitment to advancing reconciliation in Durham Region and beyond.
