The 13th Annual Durham Black History Month Celebration Presented by Cultural Expressions Art Gallery Inc. presents History Starts Today: Meet the Builders, Saturday, February 1, 2020, 5 to 9 p.m., at J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate, 1355 Harwood Avenue, North, Ajax.

If history is the study of the past, then today is history in the making. Our 2020 theme celebrates some of today’s “Builders,” with a keynote panel discussion with individuals who are making, or have made, inroads along unconventional paths, dispelling stereotypes by pursuing nontraditional professions, and living their dream, their truth “because of” or in “spite of.” Our panel will feature Karl Subban, hockey dad and motivational speaker; Dorsey James, sculptor; Isaac Wanzama, entrepreneur, founder Geekspeak; Isaac Olowolafe Jr, entrepreneur, founder Dream Maker Ventures Inc.; and Uchechi Ezurike-Bosse, business and lifestyle strategist.

Presented in partnership with the Durham District School Board, Durham Black Educators’ Network and Congress of Black Women (Ajax/Pickering) and By Blacks.
